Katie, a Sheldon College foundation student, says she is really excited to be back in Brisbane and performing in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. Post Sheldon, Katie graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) and has since performed in numerous productions, most notably the Australasian tour of Wicked, Oliver!, Opera Australia’s My Fair Lady, the Australian premiere of Floyd Collins, Transport and most recently, the Australian tour of The Sound of Music. Katie has also written, produced and performed her own one woman cabaret, Identity Crisis, which went on to play a sold-out season at the Sydney Fringe Festival.
Of Sheldon College, Katie maintains that whilst “the College has changed a lot since I went to school, the culture and support for the Arts is still the same.” “My dream of becoming a performer was not the typical career path, but the staff really supported my passions. I feel incredibly lucky that I was given so many opportunities to learn and grow at such an impressionable age.”
Perhaps that is why Katie is also a passionate project leader for Opera Express, an organisation aimed at inspiring young people to unlock their creativity and get involved in the Arts.
Katie and Phineaus, we are so proud of you both and wish you every success with the upcoming show run. To see Kate and Phineaus in action, be sure to book for the QPAC season of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
